I like this gauge. I reviewed contour gauges offered in the big box stores before checking out Amazon. Many reviews had complaints about inherent issues with gauges made with metal pins mainly that the pins fell out or bent. Other gauges couldn't be locked to hold the pins while scribing the shape onto a piece of wood.
These units were all much cheaper than the Saker model but clearly not worth buying. I read reviews about the Saker gauge and decided the price point was worth it. I received the Saker gauge the following day after ordering it. I tried it out a few times and found it to be quite good. The pins are plastic but seem quite substantial and take the shape of the contour needed quite easily. I was also impressed with the greeting from the manufacturer (photo included).
I look forward to many years of use from this gauge.
